Telehealth Services After the PHE: Part 2

After learning that the public health emergency (PHE) for COVID-19 was to end May 11, the healthcare industry wondered what telehealth services would remain covered. And which of the Centers for […]

venipuncture-redraw after error

Hello All,

Looking for some guidance on the legality of the following situation: A patient comes in for lab work and the physician or phlebotomist missed something on the order and the patient has to come back. Do you no charge the venipuncture when the patient comes back as a courtesy because it was our error? Does the venipuncture go on the claim with $ 0.00 or can you leave it off completely? Do we bill the patient because the service was completed?

Thanks
Steph Mescher

Billing for Hospice service after discharge from facility

I am trying to find out how to appropriate bill for the admission to Hospice service that my physician discharged from hospital to hospice on Friday (last week). We use to be able to charge the G0180 hospice certification, but now this code seems only to be for Home Health and not Hospice. Can anyone help?

reconstruction of external ear after being bitten off by dog

Hi
We have a 10 yr old boy who had his ear basically bitten off. He was seen by a doctor who placed a permanent suture and sutured his ear to the skin on his head to allow healing of the ear injury. He was told to come back in 6 months to a year to remove the suture and do a reconstruction. The original doctor retired and now my doctor is seeing him.

My doctor states he would need to relieve the suture and then modify/reconstruct the ear without using any flaps or grafts. He would most likely be able to close any gaps with just sutures.

I know i need to get authorization from the insurance, that is why we don’t want to use an unlisted code. I don’t think this qualifies as complex repair because it is not an open wound.

My question is this- what code do i need to use without using an unlisted code? Would it be 69300 otoplasty? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Employment after 10 year hiatus

Hello all!

I just wanted to throw this situation out there to see what y’all think about it. I have been "retired" due to having kiddos for almost 5 years now, and it look like I’ll be out another 5 with the addition of another little one. I am a CPC but the majority of my time has been in auditing and physician education. I have kept up my credentials through my hiatus and was planning to continue to do so, but I was wondering what employment might look like once the kiddos are in school and I am ready to return. With the changes that have occurred and will continue to take place in my time away, I am concerned that I will have a hard time finding employment. I’m asking now, because if that is the case, I might need to have another plan for when I do return.
Thank you for any thoughts you all may have on this!
Karissa
