Anesthesia Place in Traverse City Will Now Pay $600K For Falsifying Claims to Medicare

According to the United States DOJ, Traverse Anesthesia Associates, along with several anesthesiologists are paying over $ 600K to resolve allegations that they consciously incorrectly submitted certain anesthesia claims to Medicare. Investigators mentioned that TAA and six of their anesthesiologists didn’t meet the regulative needs and conditions of payment for billing those services as medically directed.

Gate City Transportation Sentenced For Health Care Fraud For Over $5 Million

A Greensboro-based medical transport company was sentenced in court for health care fraud after pleading guilty to one count of health care fraud in October 2018, according to US Attorney lawyer Matthew G.T. Martin of the District of North Carolina. The company in question, Gate City Transportation, was ordered to pay a $ 100 fine, a $ 400 penalty tax, and restitution over five million. The funds would go, in their entirety, to the N.C. Fund for Medical Assistance. The verdict and penalty was handed down by US District Court Judge Loretta “Copeland” Biggs of the District of North Carolina.

Shift Monday – Friday Days Full-Time Days

Responsibilities
The Coding and Denial Specialist is responsible for assisting in coding and compliance issues. Generating and reviewing payment discrepancy reports on an ongoing basis for all Medicare and Managed Care contracts. Reviews denials and write-offs from third party payers. Will be responsible for generating appeal letters to send the payer to dispute the denial or underpayment identified. Act as a resource for Charge Entry to assist with coding questions to ensure charges are entered correctly. Performs all work with accord to the mission, vision and values of Oklahoma Heart Hospital.

Qualifications

Education: High School graduate or equivalent required. Bachelor or Associate Degree Preferred.
Licensure/Certifications: Must possess C.C.S, C.P.C, RHIT or RHIA
Experience: At least one (1) year of experience in billing, auditing, medical coding experience.
