Incident-to Billing May Be Eliminated

Incident-to billing for advanced practice providers (nurse practitioners, physician assistants, clinical nurse practitioners, nurse midwives, etc.) has been available to limited license practitioners since 1998. And the rules for what is required to bill incident-to are clearly defined by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). Yet, this privilege, which enables a limited license […]

BCBA incident-to services for ABA therapy

Are there any ABA therapy billers or practice managers who can help me? I am working with an ABA practice who would like to bring on a psychologist to work with our patients and our BCBAs. Is anyone billing incident-to services? I would really like to chat about how you are doing this.

I have reached out to the insurance companies we work with and the reps are not giving me information on incident to services.

Any help or knowledge would be appreciated.

Seven Incident-to Billing Requirements

Incident to billing allows non-physician providers (NPPs) to report services “as if” they were performed by a physician. The advantage is that, under Medicare rules, covered services provided by NPPs typically are reimbursed at 85 percent of the fee schedule amount; whereas, services properly reported incident to are reimbursed at the full fee schedule value. Incident-to Clarification

I need some clarification on Billing Incident-to. I say that in order to BILL Incident-to Correctly the Physician MUST be in the same building as the PA/NP. My practice wants to utilize our PA/NP at a Satellite Office (and Bill Incident-to) without a Physician Present but available by phone because the scope of Practice for a PA per GA Composite Medical Board states " The supervising physician need not be physically present at the time of the services but shall be immediately available by telecommunications". My opinion is that Scope of Practice and Billing are different. You need to follow the Insurance Companies definition of Incident-to. Please help clarify this for me. Paula

Incident-To Billing for Lactation consultant

Hi,

I’m looking into potentially bringing on a lactation consultant to our practice as a percentage based employee. Can we bill incident-to for the lactation consult’s visits if the primary care physician in our office recommends the patient get lactation education/assessments? We’re in Washington State so I’m not sure if that plays a part.

Incident-to

I know there’s no incident-to in the hospital but our physicians bill for subsequent hospital visits and I need to know with the following documentation do I bill this under the PA or do I bill under the physician. Here’s the end of the report and the signatures.

Plan discussed with: patient, supervising physician DR X
Electronically signed by PA
Electronically signed by Dr X

Who do I bill under.

Thanks,
