My provider messaged me and said that he had to use two IUDs during an IUD insertion, because the first one fell out. Are we able to bill for both, or do we lose the money on that IUD? If we can bill for both, and suggestions on how to code this? Should we just bill for the 1 IUD & the insertion with a 22 modifier on the insertion to show increased procedural services? Thank you!

Billing for IUD’s
Looking for advice on what amount to charge the insurance companies for the IUD’s that our office purchases. I know providers can charge any amount and it’s up to the insurance to reimburse based on allowed amounts and contracts. I am looking for a fair percentage to charge over the cost of the IUD. Ex; Kyleena charges $ 908, BCBS reimburses $ 894.42. Thank you,
