We are looking to start providing FMT and we are having discussions on the correct coding for these procedures. I’d love to find some contacts to discuss what procedure they using for the transplant and how they are coding it, as well as if they are being reimbursed. Our FI is Palmetto and they don’t cover these and our commercial payers want the G code, but our providers have been told by other providers they can use the diagnostic colonoscopy code instead. The cost of the transplant product has increased significantly in the last few months since we started looking at this process, so proper reimbursement is important. If anyone is willing to share their journey and experience, it would be greatly appreciated. Just message me.

NEED HELP Quick!g donor complications from transplant procedure

I have researched until I blue in the face and no definitive answer which I need! If a living donor is having complications from the transplant surgery how would code the complications? Would it be T86.19 other complication of kidney transplant or would it be T81.9XXA for unspecified complication of procedure? My initial thought was that the T86.19 was recipient specific but then I was thinking if we bill all charges for the donor under the recipient using the Q3 modifier that we would use the T86.19 showing it was a complication from the transplant surgery and the Q3 is what directs them to know that the donor is having the complications but I may be overthinking it. I just need a definitive answer. Any help or thoughts would be much appreciated!

Has anyone had any luck getting Palmetto to pay G0455? They are denying stating it is not medically necessary. We were a part of the transition from Cahaba to Palmetto, and Cahaba always paid. Any advice? I found this link and it does not look like Palmetto covers this code :
