78 y/o with recent obstruction of her distal mucous fistula since the red rubber cath. Maintaining potency fell out. Pt. requires replacement of the red rubber cath.

The ostomy appliance was taken down. A sterile field was created/ an 18 F coude cath. was cut with scissors to fashion additional partial holes distally. The cath was inserted into the mucous fistula approx. 8 cm and sutured in place with a 2-0 prolene stitch. An ostomy appliance was re-applied.
