Inpatient consults w/heart cath and stents on same day
General question for inpatient when a cardiologist consults a patient and schedules to have a heart cath/stent on same day, is the consult payable? is mod 25 needed?
Inpatient consults
So since Medicare no longer accepted the consult code, we were pointed in the direction of the Initial inpatient hospital care codes (99221-99223), however now the insurance companies that were following suite are now processing those codes as they are written, which is the first hospital inpatient encounter with the admitting physician. SO if my docs are consulted in an inpatient setting, what on earth am I supposed to charge?? A subsequent visit? Because it is subsequent to the initial encounter of another physician?? (this is the only logic I can come up with)
Any and all help would be much appreciated!!

H&P Consults done in the hospital for outpatient surgery
Anyone have experience with this? If I’m looking at CPT correctly it looks like the Medicare codes are different from the commercial payor codes 99201-99205 vs 99241-99245. Is this correct?

When a patient is seen in the hospital for a consult and they have Medicare. Is an ABN required in order for the consult to be billed, being that Medicare will not pay for the consult.
