EHR downtime aftermath

Our practice has been affected by the Allscripts ransomware attack on 1/18/18. We have been without access to our EHR and PM system for the past several days. Our providers have been documenting all office visits on paper progress notes and we have been making copies of all prescriptions for entry into the EHR when it is available.

My questions is, once our EHR is operational again, is it permissible for our CNP to transcribe the doctors’ office notes into the EHR to capture the data for reporting/billing purposes and then send it to the doctor for sign off? Or must the doctors enter their own documentation into the EHR from their written progress notes? We will be scanning the written progress notes into EHR as well. Our CNP has a lighter schedule than the doctors and it would be the most efficient way to get the data entered into the EHR. As you can imagine, this has been a nightmare and any guidance you can offer will be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
