Medical Mistake Deaths on the Rise?

Wow! This is really scary!

I’m sure everyone is aware that medical mistakes to happen, but you’d think that in this day and age, medical mistakes would be on the downward swing, not on the upward swing.

The worst part of this whole scenario is that so many of these medical mistakes are preventable. But would you believe that now, yes right now, they are one of our nation’s leading cause of accidental death?

I don’t know about you, but to me there is something terribly wrong with that picture!

Research has shown that the death toll from medical injury, including infections that patients acquire during their treatment, is approaching 200,000 a year!

Approximately ten years ago, there was a federal report that called the death toll shocking, and “challenged” the medical community to cut it in half, within five years.

Well, guess what? Federal analysts say the rate is increasing! But, how can this be?

Let me tell you…It was found that the medical community, the federal government and most states have failed to take the simple, effective steps outlined in that report a decade ago!

As a result, the death toll from what could be preventable medical injuries and infections, since then is close to 2 million!

Knowing all this, I’m really apprehensive about having to go to a hospital!

Now, I do believe that there are probably going to be times in our lives, we might “really” need to go to a hospital, urgent care or a specialist for reasons beyond our control, but I also believe that there are many of those medical appointments or hospital stays that could be avoided!

We DO need to take better care of our health! Duh, we all know that, right?

I’m sure you all know the drill…eat healthier, exercise, get plenty of rest, etc. And I’m sure, if you’re like me, you really try. But it’s not easy, is it?

Did you know that just about all health problems (diseases) are caused by inflammation? If we could “prevent” that inflammation from happening, that alone could diminish medical visits or hospital stays.

Of course I’ll point out again that eating healthier and getting enough exercise and rest are the keys to better health, but there are “other” preventative measures that can really help and should be seriously considered.
