Individual or Family Psychotherapy?

Hello. I’m a bit green to family psychotherapy and need some clarification on what qualifies as family psychotherapy.

So I have a provider who sees a mother and adult son for therapy. The adult son invites his mother to participate in his sessions. However, from the providers notes, the mother interjects only at the prompt of the provider or not at all during the session. Is this still considered family psychotherapy because she was present in the session?

Thanks for any input in advance,
Amanda

Family practice/Medicaid and ADHD patients

Good morning.
I was wondering if someone could guide me through how to code for ADHD patients and medicaid. I am billing New/Est patient E&M codes with the dx. code of F90.9 but we are getting denials from medicaid stating "Payer indicates that this service is not covered or allowed". Am I coding this correctly? Can anyone advise me on what we should do?
Thank you.

well woman by family practice doc

I work for family practice docs and sometimes the patient is coming in for a pap/well woman exam. Commercial insurance. Should I be billing a 9939x with the Q0091? Because what if the patient decides to have an actual annual wellness visit a few months down the road? I would think it would get denied.

Codes 90846 and 90847 – Family psychotherapy

Codes 90846 and 90847 – Family psychotherapy

If there are siblings that are both patients to the provider. They are both seen the same day and at the same time, same provider, same session. Could 90846/90847 be billed for each sibling? As long as there is separate documentation for each sibling?

Any insight would be greatly appreciated, happy Friday :)

Does family history of pancreatic cancer indicate a high risk screening colonoscopy?

My office often uses Z80.0 (Family history of malignant neoplasm of digestive organs) as the primary diagnosis for high risk screening colonoscopies. According to the alphabetic index and notes in the tabular list of the IDC-10-CM, family history of pancreatic cancer is included in Z80.0. The old patients account manager instructed the providers and coders that this means when a screening colonoscopy is ordered for a patient with a family history of pancreatic cancer it should be coded as a high risk screening (G0105). We have a new provider in our group that insists that a family history of pancreatic cancer does not make the colonoscopy a high risk screening. I cannot find any guidelines regarding family history of pancreatic cancer and screening colonoscopies. Does anyone know if it is appropriate or not to code a high risk screening?
