CPT vs HCPCS for Pap Smear Cytology

The hospital where I work recently acquired a physician’s practice, and we are now sending out and billing for pap smears. For the LabCorp test we are using, the appropriate CPT/HCPCS codes would be 88175/G0145. My question is which code do we use? The CPT or HCPCS code? Are there different situations that would warrant use of one over the other (such as with Medicare patients)? Any help would be appreciated!

Abnornal pap – cytology vs histology Dx code

A provider has asked the following question – There are different codes for follow-up paps when someone has had an abnormal one. There are the abnormal cytology ones R87.610, .611, .612, .613. Then there are the abnormal histology ones – N87.0, N87.1, D06.0, D06.1, D06.9. The question is which one should we bill under when they return for a follow-up pap, and they have had colposcopy (where you have a histology report). The cytology codes, or the histology codes?

Thanks in advance!
