Duopa – Parkinsons Billing

Hello,

I have a clinic that is asking how to bill for the time spent adjusting a patients duopa and the associated monitoring. The monitoring/surveillance takes place over several hours. Does anyone know if there is an adjustment code? I have been losing sleep over this. The best I can come up with is for the provider to do the neurological exam, make the adjustment, do another neurological exam, etc and then add the accumulated face-to-face time and bill based on that, but I am not sure. If anyone has any information I would be most grateful.

Thank you,
D

Dementia and Parkinson’s

Hello all,
I’ve got a little back and forth going on with an Attending Physician’s office regarding a change to a Primary Diagnosis (I am in Hospice). The patient was referred to us with a Primary Dx of Parkinson’s and with an Other Dx of Dementia. When I look in the Alphabetical listing I am led to G31.83 Dementia w/Lewy Bodies which INCLUDES Dementia w/Parkinsonism. The Attending is adamant that the Primary Dx remain Parkinson’s instead of using the combination code I was led to in the ICD-10 manual. I would like to be able to understand where to go from here…
Any suggestions or helpful tips would be welcome.
Thank you!
