I have been in billing for seven years and decided to study for coding and passed my CPC exam back in December of last year. My current employer is not willing to do any on the job or even allow me to shadow the few coders that are available. I am trying to find new employment as a CPC but no company is willing to train and expects two years experience minimum. Though I have assisted with coding reviews for appealing claims, I have yet to personally code any cases. If anyone can help my email is [email protected]
Thanks
On World Kidney Day, March 8, take a moment to refresh your understanding of chronic kidney disease (CKD) and how to properly code this unfortunate diagnosis. One in seven Americans has CKD — more women than men: CKD affects 16 percent of women and 13 percent of men, according to the National Institute of Diabetes and […]

Biotechnology is an emerging branch which has already proved its proficiency. But it is still thriving. Biotechnological plants incorporate the ideas of biotechnology and have blessed this world by providing medicines for the deadly and life taking diseases. Genetic Engineering and Genomics are the two expanding technologies which has given new heights to biotechnological plants. Several research processes are still going on to develop efficient medicines for future diseases and improving the existing ones.
The key objective of biotechnological plants is to create alternatives for the chemical compounds used in the manufacturing process as these can be very lethal. Slowly and gradually, genetically engineered and pharmacy plants are substituting these harmful chemicals. These pharmacy plants are harmless and eco-friendly. These plants can be utilized to develop salutary proteins by adopting the gene expression methods. These plants can be food crops e.g. soya and maize as well as non-food crops e.g. tobacco. These plants have enabled the pharmaceutical industries to produce medicines without any side effects and allergies.
Using the genetically engineered plants, more effective medicines can be developed which has high resistance against numerous deadly diseases. The biotechnological industries are still hungry to produce more transgenic plants which can challenge all the threats produced by diseases to the mankind. Efforts are also being made to increase the crop yield by using various genetic tools and techniques. Pharmaceutical plants are trying hard to meet the growing requirements of the medicines. Numerous training programs are also running to handle the major technological and social challenges. Biotechnological experts are consistently trying to adopt the latest techniques to enhance their information on genetic design of several capable resources that can be used for pharmaceutical production.
Different political and social units are attempting to enhance the alertness and awareness on biotechnology and associated techniques. Numerous seminars and workshops are also carried out to increase the knowledge of these new technologies to the society. Several career opportunities are also provided by industries to young and innovative talents to become a part of them.

Biopharmaceutical plants utilize the concept of biotechnology to develop medicines. These medicines are developed from different plant and animal cells and this process is carried out in bioreactors. Use of genetically engineered plants and animals is the latest discovery of biotechnology which has proved its efficiency. However, sometimes it fails and huge investments are wasted. Despite of its effectiveness, many times its use is not permitted by the government because of the involved side effects and religious concerns. This causes heavy loss to manufacturers. Another challenge faced by Biopharmaceutical plants is the mixing of these genetically engineered plants with other food crops which makes these crops infectious.
Biopharmaceutical plants are designed and planned according to FDA standards. The medicines must be manufactured in closed system devices and clean rooms to avoid harmful emissions. Their approval requires clearing a series of tests and trials. Before releasing these medicines to market, it should be cross examined to see that it is free from side effects. If it satisfies all the guidelines of “current Good Manufacturing Practices” (cGMP), then only it is released to market for commercialization.
There are several industries which manufacture the machines required to carry out several procedures for medicines development. These industries deliver numerous quality services like administration of the construction process, supervision of design, monitor operations, legalization and entire implementation of project in an effective way. Numerous machines involved in manufacturing process includes media production system, storage tanks, fermentors, buffer production systems, bioreactors, stoppering and capering units, ultra filtration units.
Machines and equipments involved in production process by Biopharmaceutical plants should be frequently cleaned by using Sterilization in Place (SIP) and Clean in Place (CIP) methods. These methods are necessary to prevent the machines from emissions and harmful particles. Good planning is highly essential before establishing the laboratories. Proper air conditioning, heating and ventilation systems must be present. The health care products developed by these plants include several antibiotics, proteins, vaccines and nucleic acids which can save millions of lives.

Combination of various streams of science like biology, medicine, food science and agriculture has given a new technology to the world called ‘Biotechnology’. This technology deals with Genetic Engineering which is the cell and tissue culture of plants and animals. It uses the concepts of different branches of science like cell biology, biochemistry, microbiology, genetics and molecular biology. The knowledge derived from all these branches are used mainly for the expansion and alteration of living organisms to provide answers to several unanswered questions. It also involves plant and animal nurturing. By adopting the methods like artificial selection, hybridization and breeding, various kinds of plants are cultivated in Biotechnological plants.
The chief job of Biotechnological plants is to produce effective medicines and other health care products. It provides affordable medicines and simple methods for medicines manufacture. It uses the concept of Genetic engineering which is a breakthrough in medical world. Biotechnology has found out the preventives for various life threatening diseases like multiple sclerosis, cancer, hepatitis B, hepatitis C, arthritis, haemophilia and several cardiovascular disorders. It has contributed a lot to this world by providing efficient medicines which can cure many deadly diseases.
Apart from medical sector, Biotechnological plants have proved their proficiency in other sectors also. It has given new dimensions to food and food products industries. Its major area of concern is to increase protein rich crop yield along with making these crops resistant to various abiotic and biotic factors. Quality and quantity of fruits has been increased by increasing the ripening span and decreasing their spoilage. All the products are utilized to maximum extent. For example, fatty acids are produced from oil seeds which can be utilized for the fabrication of detergents, substitute fuels and petrochemicals. Investigation of genes present in different plants and other living beings are going on consistently. Biotechnology is thriving hard to make this world disease free.

The art of tattooing is finding its way into the medical field. In medical procedures, making a permanent mark on the body is becoming a practice. Tattooing is used in the medical field for healing purposes and sometimes an unwanted tattoo is done on the awkward area; even without the patient’s consent.
What do you understand from the term “medical tattoo”?
This is not one of those trendy patterns or designs of tattoos that the doctors do on you in the hospital to satisfy your tattoo desire. But rather, it is a method of treating the illness. Yes, it is a tattoo but with a different set of goals and rules.
Medical tattooing is practiced mostly in the field of cancer therapy. It is done in the form of radiation. Radiation is the best method for treating few types of cancer. Since, the treatment for cancer goes on for a few months. The area to be treated is marked or tattooed. This is the best and reliable method of marking the affected and treated areas, so that the doctors do not have to remark or retrace the area again. This helps the oncologist to follow a proper track.
Tattooing is used for reconstructive purposes called the micropigmentation. In this medical field, aureola reconstruction and scar re-pigmentation are the most popular areas, where tattooing is done. This option is followed for treatment after post surgery. Replacing larger areas of skin due to skin pigmentation or burnt skin; has brought the doctors and the tattoo specialists together. They work along with the patient to restore back their looks or the skin that they have lost during the surgery. People can match the ink colors with their skin and thus filling up the places that has lost the color of the body. These inks come in different tones and shades that is blended and applied on the skin. This type of tattooing works better with people of darker skin color. This does not work with the Caucasians. White tattoo inks are available but it cannot be used on the skin having a dark tattoo color. A dermatologist would prefer using a laser treatment to remove the skin pigmentation in the above case.
