Please help me. I do coding for behavioral health. I have researched and cannot find anything stating how to code for Alcohol Use Disorder, unspecified when it is not documented as mild, moderate, or severe, other than Z72.89 – Other Problems related to Lifestyle. Not much is stated for use of this code which would say it would default to this. Please let me know where it would state this or to default to an unspecified code for Alcohol Use Disorder. Would H0001 (Alcohol and/or drug assessment) be coded as G0396 or G0397 (alcohol and/or substance abuse structured assessment and brief intervention) for Medicare? I am not sure if they are considered the same service.

I am looking to connect with others who are familiar with billing for these types of facilities. What is the appropriate code to use for billing the facility daily charge? The code range I am looking at is H0010 H0019. I also see revenue codes 1002 (Residential Treatment Chemical Dependency) and 906 (Behavioral Health Treatments/Services Chemical Dependency).
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

master level alcohol and drug counselor bill mental health code?

I think I know this answer but would like a second opinion. Can a master level alcohol and drug counselor bill a diagnosis code that is not related to substance. I have a provider billing a 60 minute session and the diagnosis code he is billing is for anxiety and he is not using a substance related diagnosis at all. He is not dual licensed and only has the MLADC not MH license.
