Our CRNA was called in to do a venipuncture on a child that has bad veins. They tried versed, but the child still could not be controlled. They ended up doing the venipuncture under general anesthesia. Can we charge for that anesthesia or is it going to be part of the VP? Thank you!

HELP!! Billing TEE procedure for CRNA 93313 vs 93318
Hello I need opinions on billing TEE procedure 93313 vs 93318, I have a CRNA who wants to bill 93318 and another CRNA stating he’s just placing the probe. My instinct is to go with 93313 but in what case would I use 93318?

I’m reviewing CRNA services for Anthem, Medicare and Medicaid; could anyone share some information on CRNA billing for in- and outpatient services for Anthem, please? Does BCBS Anthem require that CRNAs bill their services on a UB or 1500? I’m seeing it done both ways and it appears inconsistent with their policy that these should be billed on Form 1500s.
Additionally, if the type of anesthesia administered is MAC, then converted to general, would you only code the general anesthesia?

MD DDS with CRNA
I need some guidance/help. We have a CRNA that comes in and does some cases with my DDS, MD. We pay her an agreed amount per case based on the contract we have with her. Can I bill her services since we have a contract with her? Does this make her an employee? if so how does this get billed? I am willing to have a phone conversation with anyone who can help me. I work for a DDS/MD. We have a CRNA that comes in on occasion and does our anesthesia services. We have a contract with this individual to pay her a flat fee for each case. Am I able to bill the insurance companies for her services since we have contract with her? does having a contract with her make her an employee? Can I bill 99155-99157 with the QZ modifier and her NPI # and her as the rendering for these lines?

Moderate Sedation by CRNA during MRI
Hello. Anyone know if Moderate Sedation provided by a CRNA is payable if performed during an MRI? The CRNA would bill separately for his/her services (99155-99157). I’ve only billed anesthesia for general or MAC during surgical cases and not sure if insurance companies will pay for Mod Sed during MRI’s. Previously the radiology practice used RN’s for this service but now are looking for an outside anesthesia company to provide sedation. I’m in Michigan if that makes any difference.
If this is payable does the bill go out with any anesthesia modifiers? Thanks in advance for any advice.

Supervised CRNA
Hi, How should we bill for CRNA that was supervised by the Anesthesiologist for a TEE in 2 Room? It Conscious Sedation (QS) but we also have modifier QK, QX for the CRNA. The Attending is attempting to bill under him but should the CRNA have her name under the service provider and also, what documentation should we be looking for? We only have signature for the CRNA. Thank you for your help. This is a new type of cases for us.
CRNA does not stay for the entire case – can I still bill for them?

Here is the scenario: MD1 and the CRNA began the case. CRNA left after 46 minutes. MD 2 appears to have given MD 1 a break midway through the case – my question is do I ONLY bill for MD1 with the AA modifier, or do I bill for MD1 (QY) AND the CRNA (QX) ?
