Help!! Dx coding for nuclear medicine

If we performed the bone imaging, whole body (78306) with the isotope (A9503), how would i put in the diagnosis codes?? I have C77.3, C50.412, & C79.51 given by the referring physician. Do I code the secondary malignant neoplasm of bone (C79.51) first since it is a bone imaging scan? Or do i still put the primary Malignant neoplasm first?

Help!! :(

Regenerative Medicine – PRP/Allograft

Hello All,

Thanks in advance for any feedback!

I am wondering what your experience has been regarding whether or not it is appropriate to charge a patient for regenerative medicine, eg: PRP, allograft while charging the insurance for the procedure which is typically a facet injection.

I need to know what the legality around this is and what anyone else might be doing in this scenario.

Thank you!

Inpatient physical medicine docs diagnosis

Hi,

I am new to coding for physical medicine doctors. Many of whom, see inpatients before they are and then when they transferred to a rehab floor. My question is how to discern what is the focus of their visit. Typically, these patients have either fallen and broken an leg/arm, or they’ve had a stroke or heart attack. In my opinion, these types of physicians are not treating the underlying illness or injury, but rather the residuals- difficulty walking/malaise/dysphasia/functional decline etc… My physicians list 8-10 +diagnosis and I am not sure what to list first.
If anyone can help me to better understand, I’d truly appreciate it!

Thanks!
-Kathleen

Q&A: What you need to know about compounding medicine

The Joint Commission unveiled a new Medication Compounding Certification (MCC) program in January with the goal of reducing the harm stemming from drug compounding and ensuring compliance with U.S. Pharmacopeial Convention (USP) and Joint Commission standards. Meanwhile, USP Chapter <800> goes into effect on July 1, 2018 and contains major changes aimed at protecting healthcare workers from exposure to hazardous drugs and materials.
Kurt Patton, MS, RPh, a former director of accreditation services for The Joint Commission and founder of Patton Healthcare Consulting in Naperville, Illinois spoke with BOAQ on the details surrounding medication compounding.
