Online Patient Portal – Another Innovation of Medical Technology

Latest technology has simplified our lives to a great extent. Internet is helping to simplify many complicated procedures and few examples of the same are exchanging messages, contacting people in distant places using chat and emails, online shopping, reading information of latest events and happenings across the world and collecting information required related to any topic.

One of the most benefited industries from internet is the field of medicine. The latest innovation of medical technology is online patient portals. It is designed to increase communication and relation between patient and health care providers.

Online patient portals help in efficiently managing the available resources with the local physician or provider to reduce the cost of treatment for both patient and the provider that uses advanced technology. It also enables doctors and providers in transmission of everything that is related to treatment of the patients like medical images for diagnosis, reports, medical date related to patient etc. It is also helpful in educating local physicians online on preventing development of chronic diseases via video conferences.

Online portals are also helping physicians to easily schedule appointment with patients as there is increase in demand for health care services which helps patients in avoiding to stand in lengthy lines. Recruiting Medical Professionals Online

If you are looking for new medical staff on behalf of a hospital, doctor’s surgery, or similar healthcare practice, then using a medical agency could be a very quick and easy way to solve your staffing problems. You may require permanent staff to fill central roles, or you may need part time staff to make up a team. You may even need a few different staff for part time, temporary or permanent positions, and advertising these vacancies through a medical agency is a good way to reach a large number of suitable medical professionals.

Advertising through a medical agency is a good way to access a range of professional services and ensure that you recruit the best staff. Many large medical agencies will be able to offer services such as vetting prospective employees, ensuring that they will comply with current NHS regulations, performing police checks, collecting professional references, and offering staff across a wide range of specialities and grades. When you post a job online you will need to be sure that all the applicants have the correct qualifications and security clearances; recruiting through a medical agency is a great way to be assured that all the applicants you receive will have the correct background and professional requirements.

When you are searching for a medical agency, it is a good idea to look online for large companies who can offer a wide range of medical professionals for you to choose from. Any good medical agency should have a comprehensive website, with lots of detail on the services that they can offer. A well designed and informative website is often a good indicator of a professional and well established company, so having a look around before you commit to a medical agency is always a good idea.

Many agencies will also have dedicated staff that you can contact to receive personal advice during the recruitment process. This can be invaluable if you are unsure how to word your advert for example, or have any more general questions about the recruitment process. Many companies advertise an advice service, but it is a good idea to look for one with twenty four hour on-call assistance available, just in case you need to get hold of an expert at short notice!

Most agencies will have an online contact form which will usually require you to enter an email address and a query. This will then be replied to in due course. If you need advice in a hurry however, this may not be the best option! Companies which can offer a telephone number are often easier to get hold of, and this should be available either on a contacts page, or supplied to you once you register your details.

Expert advice is also a bonus if you are recruiting for a few different positions at one time, as this can often get rather confusing. Using the services of an experienced medical agency is a great way to take some of the time and responsibility out of the recruitment process, and will ensure that you find the perfect medical professionals for every vacancy.

Online Medical Supplies

The classification of medical devices is shown below. There are basically four classes, ranging from low risk to high risk.

* Class I (including Is & Im)

* Class IIa

* Class IIb

* Class III

The authorization of medical devices is guaranteed by a Declaration of Conformity. This declaration is issued by the manufacturer itself, but for products in Class Is, Im, IIa, IIb or III, it must be verified by a Certificate of Conformity issued by a Notified Body. A Notified Body is a public or private organization that has been accredited to validate the compliance of the device to the European Directive. Medical devices that pertain to class I (on condition they do not need to be sterilized or are not used to measure a function) can be put on the market purely by self-certification.

The European classification depends on rules that involve the medical device’s duration of body contact, its invasive character, its use of an energy source, its effect on the central circulation or nervous system, its diagnostic impact or its incorporation of a medicinal product.

Certified medical devices should have the CE mark on the packaging, insert leaflets, etc.. These packaging should also show harmonized pictograms and EN standardized logos to indicate essential features such as instructions for use, expiry date, manufacturer, sterile, don’t reuse, etc.

Based on the above classes there are different kinds of online medical supply.

Aspirators

An aspirator, also called an educator-jet pump or filter pump, is a device that produces vacuum by means of the Venturi effect. In an aspirator, fluid (liquid or gaseous) flows through a tube which then narrows. When the tube narrows, the fluid’s speed increases, and because of the Venturi effect, its pressure decreases. Vacuum is taken from this point.

External Pace Maker

A pacemaker (or artificial pacemaker, so as not to be confused with the heart’s natural pacemaker) is a medical device which uses electrical impulses, delivered by electrodes contacting the heart muscles, to regulate the beating of the heart. The primary purpose of a pacemaker is to maintain an adequate heart rate, either because the heart’s native pacemaker is not fast enough, or there is a block in the heart’s electrical conduction system. Modern pacemakers are externally programmable and allow the cardiologist to select the optimum pacing modes for individual patients. Some combine a pacemaker and defibrillator in a single implantable device. Others have multiple electrodes stimulating differing positions within the heart to improve synchronization of the lower chambers of the heart.

Pulse Oximeter

A pulse oximeter is a medical device that indirectly monitors the oxygen saturation of a patient’s blood (as opposed to measuring oxygen saturation directly through a blood sample) and changes in blood volume in the skin, producing a photoplethysmograph. It is often attached to a medical monitor so staff can see a patient’s oxygenation at all times. Most monitors also display the heart rate. Portable, battery-operated pulse oximeters are also available for home blood-oxygen monitoring. The original oximeter was made by Milliken in the 1940s.[1] The precursor to today’s modern pulse oximeter was developed in 1972, by Aoyagi at Nihon Kohden using the ratio of red to infrared light absorption of pulsating components at the measuring site. It was commercialized by Biox in 1981. The device did not see wide adoption in the United States until the late 1980s.

Buy Medical Equipments Online

Medical equipment is designed to aid in the diagnosis, monitoring or treatment of medical conditions. These devices are usually designed with rigorous safety standards. The medical equipment is included in the category Medical technology.

There are several basic types:

* Diagnostic equipment includes medical imaging machines, used to aid in diagnosis. Examples are ultrasound and MRI machines, PET and CT scanners, and x-ray machines.

* Therapeutic equipment includes infusion pumps, medical lasers and LASIK surgical machines.

* Life support equipment is used to maintain a patient’s bodily function. This includes medical ventilators, anesthetic machines, heart-lung machines, ECMO, and dialysis machines.

* Medical monitors allow medical staff to measure a patient’s medical state. Monitors may measure patient vital signs and other parameters including ECG, EEG, blood pressure, and dissolved gases in the blood.

* Medical laboratory equipment automates or helps analyze blood, urine and genes.

* Diagnostic Medical Equipment may also be used in the home for certain purposes, e.g. for the control of diabetes mellitus

A biomedical equipment technician (BMET) is a vital component of the healthcare delivery system. Employed primarily by hospitals, BMETs are the people responsible for maintaining a facility’s medical equipment.

When you do search for a great deal always ask for a warranty. This will provide the confidence you need especially when buying a more expensive model. Some of these warranties will last a lifetime. Never having to spend another dollar on a pair of stethoscopes is a great future plan for your budget.

If you’re planning to buy the medical equipments then the internet would be the best option to start with. In internet you will find many medical equipment manufacturers along with the product they manufacture or sell. Always make background check before ordering the medical stuffs, after all its an one time investment and somebody’s life depends on it.

Is online Exam Review the same as the Study Guide?

I have an AAPC copyright 2011 CPMA Online Exam Review book, but is that the most current? And is it the same as the CPMA Study Guide? I want to make sure I’m studying with the most current/correct material. I know it’s 2017 but sometimes the copyrights can be older when the information doesn’t change but in the medical field 6 years is a big leap so I just wanted to verify before I press check out in my cart. :) Thanks!
