The Billing Supervisor’s chief function is to handle all billing and collections for the practice. She/ he will work cooperatively with the billing staff, patients, insurance companies, staff and doctors to effectively accomplish the following list of responsibilities. The position requires experience in standard podiatric terminology and an understanding of podiatric-specific billing protocols. Other necessary technical and behavioral skills would include computer, communication, conflict management, organizational & development and quality customer service. Ensuring procedures are followed, privacy is protected, and information is accurate are primary responsibilities.
This supervisor will share recommendations for improvement and implement billing protocol and policies. She/he is expected to uphold a professional, pleasant and caring personality/ attitude with all patients and work together with other staff members as a valuable team player. Project Management skill, ability to multi-task, excellent verbal and non-verbal communications and is a team player.

Responsibilities include:

• Delegation of billing duties to appropriate billing specialists
• Monthly A/R reporting and management
• Tracking and maintaining KPI for all aspects in billing
• Assist in obtaining authorizations if necessary
• Cross checking EOBs with appropriate current fee schedule and initiating an appeal if necessary.
• Monthly patient invoice management
• Reporting all changes in coding, modifier and data entry to doctors, as obtained from third party payers.
• Updating changes in insurance coverage
• Making sure documentation substantiates what is billed
• Feedback to staff, 90-day evaluations and performance reviews of staff
• Performing and reviewing regular staff audits
• Keeping an accurate record all outgoing and incoming conversations
• Confidential, private handling of billing patient inquiries and complaints (telephone, fax, email)
• Making necessary follow up calls to insurance companies and provider representatives
• Reviewing/approving patient refunds
• Maintaining billing area master files in EMR software
• Develop, implement and maintain a billing filing process
• Accuracy of work and strict HIPAA compliance

Referral Specialist Supervisor

Here at Neighborcare we are starting a new position. This is a good position for those who want to make the next leap from lead to supervisor.

The Referral Specialist Supervisor works alongside the Referral Specialists. The Supervisor will direct the day-to-day work, be the referral expert, and mentor the Referral Specialists. The Supervisor is responsible for receiving, analyzing and processing all referrals and authorization requests for patients according to specific insurance requirements. The Referral Specialist Supervisor ensures patients have been cleared for specialty service office visits and certain procedures. The Referral Specialist Supervisor will provide support to clinical staff in order to facilitate the administrative components of clinical referrals for various services.

I am currently enrolled in the RHIA program at Tacoma Community College. I have an upcoming assignment in my Revenue Cycle Managment Class. Are there any HIM Directors that would be willing to participate in an interview with me regarding budgets, semi-fixed costs and variances?
This interview will only take about 15 minutes and I would be so appreciative of the chance to interview you.

In a addtion, for a future assignment(s) in Enterprise Health Information Managment and Data Governance, I will need to interview a HIM Director or Supervisor regarding RAC audits. In addition, I will need to interview HIM Director that can provide me information on the workflow process of scheduling a patient appointment.

Pathology billing supervisor

I would like to know how to bill immunochemistry code 88342 and 88341 on a case that have multiple specimen. for the 88342 code there is an MUE that says you can only bill 3 per date of service. additional stains done on the same specimen will be bill with an 88341 per instruction. My concern is if I have a case that have 10 specimen, I know that I can bill (3) what code will I use to bill the additional 7 specimens? Please I need some clarification. if you have any written rules or tell me where I can find it. I would appreciate very much.
