80307 and G0483 – Billing

Hi,
As everyone knows that UDS (80307 – detect the presence of drugs or drug classes
in urine ) and UDC (G0483 – (Identify the specific drug in the Urine, A final diagnosis that is made after getting the results of tests) codes.

Now, my question is do we billed them together on the same DOS, because 80307 once it gets positive then only lab performs G0483 .
Note : our providers order them together everytime!

I got several rejections on it and insurance companies sometimes pays only 80307.

Any input is helpful.

Thank You.

CPT code 80307

Hi All!

I work for an auditing company that reviews/audits claims for multiple different insurance companies. I have come across the following scenario now twice and was hoping for some guidance/clarification. Can/should CPT code 80307 (presumptive drug class screening) be billed on both a professional and facility claim for the same DOS? If not, which one would be the most correct one? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

billing for a 99211 with 80307 in a pain clinic

Hi, I posted this in a different forum, and although there many views, there were no responses. This may be a very basic question for some, but I need some advice. Thank you all.

Hoping for clarification. We have patients enrolled in a pain management program that come in once a month. Sometimes the patient comes in and the MA takes vitals, asks the patient how the pain is, are there any problems with the current medication, takes the patient to rest room so the patient can give the urine sample, collects the sample and forwards to our in house lab . The patient does not see the physician. Can we bill a 99211 and the 80307? I am new to this and want to make sure we are billing correctly. Thank you in advance.

Medicare and MA plans denying 80307

Our office performes presumptive drug testing on our pain management patients in our in house lab, we send out for definitive results. This year we are now filing 80307 for these presumptive drug screens. I’ve gotten a good many denials from Medicare and Medicare Advantage plans with the reason "This service is not covered by Medicare". Is anyone else having issues getting Medicare to pay and do you know the reason? Is there some kind of modifier we should be putting on these? I don’t think we did with the G code we used prior to 2017. Help!!
