Poor Claims Rep?

Just throwing this out there, but has anyone ever heard of an insurance company trying to bribe or offer gifts to a claims rep at a doctors office/corporation?

I work for a large corporation, and one employee is the only one managing this major insurance company. Shes been at the company for 15 years + – I don’t know if on the same account though.

I have a feeling that she sabotages certain claims by sending wrong info.. not all the clinicals…ignores us when we tell her to use website clippings of the authorization…etc. She just refuses to help get certain claims paid for some odd reason yet she works for the provider’s group. You would think by her responses and actions- she works for the insurance company.

Her actions don’t make any sense given her experience. Could she just be lazy or is it possible that she’s formed a relationship with the provider advocates who work at the insurance company?

Appreciate your input.

Bouncing back from poor results of medical practice promotion

As anyone who was done some sort of marketing before can tell you, promotion is an inexact science. You may have been doing some incredible advertising activities but still find out that you failed in reaching your targets. Unfortunately, this is also quite true when it comes to medical practice promotion. You may try out some strategies at first, only to realize that your revenue streams are still not increasing.

Yes, poor results are a part of medical practice promotion. They may set you back some when it comes to resources but it should not mean that you should stop doing them altogether. After all, despite the failures, you may still be able to find some success if you knew the proper ways to bounce back from it.

Here are some of the things that you can do in order to bounce back from the poor results of a medical practice promotion campaign:

Change up your strategy:

You should understand that there are plenty of marketing strategies that you can use when it comes to medical practice promotion. You should not simply stick to one, especially when that one technique that you are using is not able to provide you with the exceptional results that you would have wanted. You may want to try out the different strategies or different marketing avenues that are available to you.

You may also want to just improve or add on to the current strategy that you are using. You could apply a more advanced or thorough implementation of it to make your new medical practice promotion more successful.

For example, instead of simply creating a website for your medical practice, you may want to involve some search engine optimization techniques in it. This means that you would be improving on basic strategy (an online presence) to something more advanced (search engine optimization).

By changing up and improving your strategy, you may be able to find success in your next medical practice promotion activity.

Check the services and treatments that your practice is offering:

Sometimes, the fault does not lie on the team that did the medical practice promotion but rather on the practice itself. This is because it would be terribly difficult to market something if it is truly an inferior service or product when compared with those of their competitors.

That is why you should why you should probably check if all of the treatments and services that your medical practice is offering are actually up to par with those of your competition. If you find that you are lacking then maybe you should focus on improving your services first before you engage in medical practice promotion.

Find a good medical practice promotion partner:

Sometimes it truly is difficult to do medical practice promotion alone. There are a lot of things that are going on in promotions that it could be stressful for someone who is still unfamiliar with the concept of marketing and advertising. As such, you could expect poor results to happen to practices that do not understand what they are doing.

That is why it may help you bounce back if you try to partner with a good medical practice promotion company. This would enable you to learn tips and tricks as to how to effectively market your practice.

Facility billing for incomplete colonoscopy due to poor prep

For years as a Free Standing Facility when a patient is prepared for a Colonoscopy and the MD can’t advance the scope due to poor prep, we’ve always appended Modifier 52 (discontinued service). It is our understanding the patient will return the next day with additional prep to complete the procedure. I am reading the notes in the CPT book where it talks about incomplete colonoscopy. My interpretation of 73 and 74 modifier is when the procedure is discontinued due to extenuating circumstances or those that threaten the well being of the patient. Which modifier is correct for incomplete colon due to poor prep for the FACILITY 52, 73, or 74?

I would also need documentation to support.
