Where to start up again after being a SAHM?

Hello,

I’m wondering if anyone has been in the same sort of situation as me before, and seeking advice on what my next step should be to get
back to work in coding.

I graduated MATC/Madison college in 2010 with my CPC-A license.

I worked at the VA in medical billing and then Pharmacy billing.

My husband and I then started a family and I have been staying home with my kids until now,( 1st grade and 4k)

I’ve kept my license/certification current every year and kept up with CEU’s.

I’ve ordered the PRACTICODE internship/externship online program from AAPC to help refresh me on coding.

I’d like to (eventually) work from home, but I don’t even know where to start.
I’m hoping that practicode, in addition to removing my A and giving 1 year of exprience, will refresh and I’ll feel more
confident about coding again.

Has anyone gone back to work from being a stay at home parent for a number of years? I don’t feel confident coding
yet, so much has changed…are there places that will let you job shadow/train on the job when you haven’t had
recent expirience? I’ve also had about 7 years experience in healthcare claims prior to school for medical coding.

99211 when patient left before being seen by provider

I work in an urgent care/primary care setting. We have standing triage orders based off complaints so x-rays and labs are ordered by an MA (usually) before the providers see patients. Sometimes the patients leave after having x-rays or labs but before the providers seen the patient. I am under the impression you cannot bill an E&M for these visits but others say to go with a 99211. We don’t bill "incident to" really. Our claims are filed under the extenders’ names and numbers with the supervising provider as the co-signer.

Is the 99211 appropriate? Where can I find the supporting documentation?

Drug code J0178 being denied for not being billed on the same claim form with 67028.

Humana denied for not having 67028 billed together on the same claim form with drug code J0178. We do a correction by adding the J0178 to the same claim form where 67028 was billed. Then, Humana come back denying for the same reason.

Have you guys experience this issue? Do you guys appeal? ( I have appeal this denial and I still get a response stating "First decision stands".

It’s important that you eat enough protein and not too many carbs. Sugars consumed in excess will turn into body fat quickly and this is something that you want to keep in control of.

After you graduate from the program, you can become a medical assistant. However, what you can do as a medical assistant? Job prospects are actually very bright for you if you have undergone formal training from accredited program. Commonly, they work in doctor’s offices, private and public hospitals, or some other health amenities.

The responsibilities of medical assistants can be different from place to place. Their skills, capabilities and qualifications will affect their job duties. Besides, environmental factors such as size, location and the culture of the institutions will also differentiate their duties. The main function of medical assistants is to help in administrating the doctor’s offices to make sure the health care facilities are running without a hitch. In some health care settings, administrative and clinical duties are both handled by them. But, you should not mix up the duties of medical assistants and physician assistants because medical assistants do not involve in examining and treating patients under physician’s supervision. Instead, they carry out services such as taking vital signs, completing records and training patients.

Primarily, medical assistants work in outpatient settings. However, many of them especially those who are in larger health care settings will tend to specialize in a certain health care area.
